Fitness for the lifelong athlete.
By definition, an evergreen is “any plant that retains its leaves through the year and into the following growing season.” That resilience is the goal that guides my training philosophy, informing a holistic approach to short-term athletic achievement, as well as long-term strength and injury prevention.
For those of us who play all year long, season after season, ups and downs are almost a guarantee. That’s why consistent commitment to training is the key to enduring the curveballs that nature throws at us. From the young “green” athletes learning the basics, to the well-seasoned veterans defiantly beating all odds to stay in the game, our training approach will help you achieve measurable goals and recover faster after getting knocked down.
In concrete terms, this becomes a three-pronged approach that I use to guide all clients through the “science of change.”
Train
An essential foundation of strength & conditioning, recovery and nutrition programs, and even relearning functional movement patterns.
Practice
Using a growth mindset to implement and master new skills through repetition.
Play
Leveraging our training and practices out in the real world—whether through competitive or recreational sports, outdoor adventures or any form of movement that includes fun.
This last step—play—is the real goal. It has been medicine for my soul, a cultivator of community and a daily way to connect with the rough-and-tumble kid I’ve never entirely left behind. Every time I get outside to run around, play a pick up game with friends, or spend time in nature, my busy mind clears, my energy balances and I gain perspective on whatever challenges I’m facing in my life.
That sense of purpose and excitement is what I seek for each of my clients, whether sports teams, weekend warriors or professional athletes.
Cheers to all the adventures ahead -
Taylor
